Serifu is a personal manga-reading aid that helps you translate webcomic content you already have lawful access to. Serifu does not provide manga content, does not build a public manga download or sharing service, and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or partnered with any manga platform, publisher, or rights holder. We only process content when you actively tap "Translate," and we do not monitor your general browsing activity in the background.
What data we process
Reader match or generation requests may include a displayed series/chapter name, a source profile, and irreversible identity hashes. They do not include the full page URL or raw local identity keys, and we do not create a user reading-history relationship.
- The site and title you are translating
- The manga image, used only for translation
- The minimum data necessary for translation
- If you sign in with Google: your account identifier and email
- If you use "Feedback & Requests": the content you submit
- Basic usage data, used to maintain service quality
Images are analyzed locally on your device first. Only the minimum data necessary for translation is sent to Serifu's backend, which forwards it to Google Gemini for recognition and translation.
What we don't do
- We don't sell your reading history
- We don't use your data for personalized advertising or marketing
- We don't collect site cookies, passwords, or account credentials
- We don't build a public catalog or sharing site of manga content
- We don't retain your manga images; they are used only for that translation and are not kept afterwards
Google sign-in (optional)
You can sign in with Google to get a higher daily free quota, shared across your devices. Sign-in only uses your Google account identifier and email; we never receive your password or other Google service data. All core Serifu features work without signing in.
Device access permissions
Installing Serifu (browser extension or mobile app) does not require permission on any site or device resource. The first time you tap "Translate," you'll be asked to grant access to read the manga image on that page. Once granted, Serifu still only operates on pages where you actively request translation. You can revoke this permission at any time in your browser's extension settings or your device's app permission manager.
Copyright and acceptable use
You may only use this service on content you already have lawful access to. You may not use Serifu to reproduce, distribute, publicly transmit, or sell any copyrighted content. By tapping "Translate," you confirm that you have the right to access the page content and take full responsibility for the copyright compliance of the content you translate.
Serifu provides automated translation and reading-aid technology only. We do not provide or sell original manga content, and we are not affiliated with, licensed by, or endorsed by any manga site, author, or publisher.
Rights holder complaints and takedown
If you are a rights holder and believe Serifu's processing infringes your rights, please contact us with the title, proof of your rights, and the specific location involved. Once confirmed, we will stop processing, remove the relevant data, or take other appropriate action.

Support / donations
Support links inside Serifu open an external donation page. Supporting is entirely voluntary and has no effect on your free quota or feature access.
Feedback & requests
Content you submit via "Feedback & Requests" is used to improve the product and evaluate feature requests. Please avoid including sensitive personal information.
Deleting your account
You can delete your Serifu account yourself at any time from App settings › Delete account in the app. If you have already removed the app, you can request deletion via the account deletion page.
When an account is deleted, we delete or remove the personally identifying data and usage records associated with that account. To maintain service security, prevent abuse, meet legal obligations, and keep the service running, some data may continue to be retained after it has been unlinked from the account; necessary security records are kept for up to 90 days.
Your rights
- You can sign out at any time and return to anonymous use
- You can request explanation, correction, or deletion of your data via the contact email above
- You can revoke site permissions or remove Serifu at any time
Changes to this notice
This page describes Serifu's practices during the Beta period and will be updated as the product evolves. For material changes, we will update the date on this page and provide notice in-product.
